My creative story started when I was very small. I escaped as often as I could into the world of my imagination, and that’s where I always felt most like me. I’ve found that while at times during my life I was firmly rooted in the here and now, there was always a pull to worlds beyond my reach – a curiosity, and a yearning to be the heroine of an epic saga.
Good stories transport us to places and times that we may never have visited if they hadn’t been written, and they’ve shaped who I am today.
The things I make are inspired by tales – some already told, and some waiting to be written. I love painting imaginary lands and collecting bits of nature to fill my studio shelves. Daily walks with my dog Alice, and the wonderment that they bring, have inspired almost everything I create – from printed textiles to apothecary jars. My hope is that my work sparks recollections of quiet forest paths, both real and imagined. I truly believe we would all do well to daydream a little bit more, and worry a little bit less.
