When it comes to people, if there is anything I love more than a super talented human being who follows their call with dogged determination and yet, finds the silly and the fun all along the path– I don’t know what it is.
Meet TORY WILLIAMS.
Tory is one of my heroes.
You know how sometimes you read about people in books and wish you had known them in real life? I am grateful to the moon and stars that my path crossed with this wild child who feels like a sister in so many respects — she is fiercely loyal, deeply kind, goofy and wise. And, the way she combines commitment to the hard work of growing her career as an artist with a devotion to keeping her inner kid alive, well– that pretty much is the path I want to carve out of life.
Seriously. Tory rocks the silly like nobody I know.

I should probably mention that Tory is a wildly successful wedding + lifestyle photographer whose client list reads like a dream. But it’s not a dream. It’s the result of a boatload of hard work and the focus of a woman who lives life with passion, exuberance and a heart open to adventure.
Today I am chatting with Tory on the dock which feels utterly natural as she and I are both early morning risers and have actually sat on the dock at Squam lake as the sun was rising– sharing stories of struggles + heartbreaks as well as the the magic moments where we stop talking to listen with reverence to the call of loons.
Above is a shot she snapped of me dancing about in my pajamas and slippers one June morning next to one she snapped later that same day as we were goofing about behind one of the cottages. The combo sums up so much of what she means to me: beauty, light, fun, kindness and LOTS of laughter.
