Tender. Wise. Teacher. Deep Listener.
Above are the words that best describe SUSA TALAN. She is an artist and friend. Susa who has dedicated her adult life to exploring the inner landscape both in her daily living, but also in her artwork.
“When we turn up the volume of life and want to be
engaged in everything– we have to accept
the hard stuff, too. It’s not about cherry picking
only the good stuff– we do have to go through it all.”
I was super lucky that one year when Susa was at Squam we got to be roomies and ever since — given that our conversations tended to head toward exploration of the Bhagavad Gita, yoga, meditation, and how to cultivate a tender heart toward ourselves as well as to others— we call each other Rumi.
And before I paint a picture of a super serious, deep thinker— yes, she is all that– but she is also fun, light-hearted and super silly, too. She is all of it.
Our chat was recorded last Spring and since it is now October — I am guessing that Susa is off on the silent meditation retreat she mentions and probably not able to listen to this now.
But you can! And I hope you enjoy hanging with my Rumi as much as I do . . .
bisous, Elizabeth
