Experience level: advanced beginner
Using the beloved DEGEN flower motif as a jumping off point, we are going to dive into the wild world of intarsia.
This class might have been called ‘gamefying intarsia’ as it is a fresh, modern take on this ancient knitting technique.
Originally, the technique referred to a method of woodworking during the Italian Renaissance where it was used to create intricate designs in furniture. These days, knitted intarsia is having a bit of a renaissance itself as designers like Gucci, Chanel, and Missoni have incorporated the technique into their collections, but no one is doing it quite like Lindsay Degen.
DEGEN knitwear designs are decidedly original and easily recognizable. We are so lucky to have Lindsay leading us through this workshop as adding intarsia to our knowledge base of knitting techniques opens up a world of possibility. Intarsia is technique that allows for limitless design possibilities.
