Oh yes! The Sorceress of Stitch is bringing her magic to the lake! In this workshop, Christi will lead us on a mystical journey as we stitch meaning into material. Although our design process will create images that inspire—as well as define personal statements of power—the ragged, frayed and crooked edges of our fabric will be embraced.
Using a beloved article of clothing as our canvas, we will create a kind of talisman or amulet through intentional stitching, imbuing our work with color and imagery that is deeply meaningful to us. Christi will share the potential of three of the most versatile stitches—that make up nearly all of her designs—so you don’t need a learn whole library of stitches to tell your story.
Whatever your relationship to needle and thread, this class will take you deep into the truth that hand stitching is an act of magic.
Kit fee: 25 USD
Materials:
- Sewing kit (pins, pincushion, needles, thread, scissors)
- an article of clothing you want to stitch on (could be a shirt, jeans, jean jacket etc)
- Some textiles and any fabric scraps that have particular meaning for you
