Join Elizabeth and sink into this magical experience of sacred stitching.

When you hear the word “sacred” what comes to mind?

What resonates as “sacred” lands differently for each of us. For Elizabeth, it can range from feeling grounded to taking flight. Her sample pictures here, celebrate those sacred, spiritual elements found in nature.

The base of the project is a gorgeous, lined, zipper cloth pouch. One side features a vintage inspired, drapery weight, compound fabric that Elizabeth deconstructed, washed, and repurposed for this project.

On the other side you’ll find her signature unprimed, single- fill natural canvas that has been laundered and backed with a fusible fleece. A sturdy, brass zipper with a donut pull serves as the Pouch’s closure hardware.

The example above is one of the ways you might go in making your own sacred pouch as this workshop is all about diving into the process and nurturing our joyful exploration. The exercises and demonstrations offered are designed to deepen your connection with the magic of stitching, your own creative practice, and—of course, ever and always—the community we build with one another in this class.

You will explore ways to interpret your unique definition of what feels “Sacred” through stitch. In class students will learn Elizabeth’s favorite applique technique. Elizabeth will demonstrate and guide student’s use of different weighted specialty threads. As a special treat, Elizabeth will show how to add a bit of blingy adornment to
your “Sacred Pouch” using beads!
