Memories can be stitched into a piece
with love and intention, rather than just told.
Are you ready to step outside of traditional storytelling? If yes, then this class is a chance to use your knitting to preserve a story, a song, an experience.
Come join Alicia as she shares how she transcribes life into stitches. In this workshop, you will become the designer as Alicia guides you through the process, transcribing the metaphor of moment through texture and stitch. The end product will be a knitted story wrap that you design honoring the moments of your life that have shaped you the most.
As young children, we are mesmerized by stories. We connect to these stories and those who came before us by looking for pieces of ourselves in the characters, searching for connection in the world around us.
Our stories are our own, and we can hold space for them as we honor what we have lived. When we knit, our lives are worked into the very fabric in our hands.
We will be spending time reflecting, writing, and connecting with nature as the foundation for our work and learning the simple method Alicia uses to quiet the noise of the outside world.
Together we will explore the importance of storytelling and listening. The knitted stitch is a blank page full of potential where our stories can be written. This workshop gives us the opportunity find our voices and tell our stories through a slow approach of appreciation and representation.
