Magic you say? Yes!
Mordant printing is a most marvelous technique that combines natural dyes with metal salts to create vibrant, permanent prints on fabric. Be prepared—it can be quite addictive once you start playing with this organic art form.
The best fun is that you never know precisely how it will turn out as there are a number of variables and each piece will reflect the unique and artistic flair of the person who created it.
By thickening mordants like aluminum sulfate, you can control the application of dye and then you have options on how to apply it. In this workshop we are going to be creating patterns on fabric by
- painting
- block printing
- and screen printing
We will cover everything you need to know about mordant printing, from materials and tools to a detailed step-by-step process. Plus, Kristin will be sharing her best tips and tricks to get the results you most want. So whether you are a beginner or an experienced dyer, this workshop will expand your skill set to new levels in the exciting technique of mordant printing.
