Experience level: All Levels
Rockstar macrame artist Maryanne Moodie burst on the scene years ago bringing her fresh perspective to the forgotten pleasures of macrame and updated the way we think about it. She has continued to push the boundaries of what can be done with fiber and has recently begun a series of pieces she refers to as woven art work. It is an exciting approach that builds upon its roots in weaving and heads into new territory.
We will be learning a variety of fibre sculpture skills that can be used to create jewelry, hanging ornaments, totems, gift toppers.
The best part of this class is that it provides us with the opportunity to use up all our bits and pieces of little fiber ends that we still love and have kicking around but are too small for a project all their own.
With Maryanne’s guidance and encouragement, you will create beautiful works of art– for either display or to be worn– that will crack open a door to using fiber in ways you’d never thought to before.
Don’t worry — if you haven’t a substantial fiber stash as there will be lots of odds & ends for you to dip into. Just give us a heads up if you know that you will need us to bring a bit extra for you. Things we will be covering in this class:
- Tassels
- Door Knob Tassels
- Tiered Tassels
- Knotted Tassels
- Long neck tassels
- Rope Tassel
- Color changes
- Rainbow
- Macrame hanging
- Mini off-loom weaving
Be ready for fun! Maryanne is a marvelous teacher and she has so much to share with you.
